Steps to cook
-
Prepare the ingredients. Prepare all the ingredients so you have everything at hand - let's cook! 🔪🔥
-
Cook the rice. Cook the rice in double the amount of salted water, covered, for about 10-15 minutes - bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cook until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, then let it finish steaming, covered.
-
Prepare the carrots. Peel the carrots and use a peeler to slice them into thin pieces.
-
Prepare the broccoli. Separate the broccoli into small florets.
-
Slice the onion. Cut the onion into small dice.
-
Slice and marinate the chicken. Cut the chicken into smaller pieces and mix it with crushed garlic, oil, salt, and pepper so it is evenly coated.
-
Prepare the caramel. In a pan, let the sugar dissolve over medium heat and turn golden into a light caramel, about 2-3 minutes.
-
Sear the chicken. Add the chicken and sear over higher heat for about 5 minutes so it gets coated in the caramel and seals.
-
Add the onion. Add the onion and briefly saute it over medium heat for about 2 minutes so it softens.
-
Add the vegetables and sauce. Add the soy sauce, carrots, broccoli, and a little water, and cook over medium heat for 3-4 minutes so the vegetables soften and the sauce comes together.
-
Serve. Serve with rice 🍽️✨
