Steps to cook

13 steps · 15 min cook
  1. Prepare the ingredients. This is what awaits you on the plate – juicy meatballs in tomato sauce on crispy bread 🍅🥖 Prepare all ingredients in advance so the work goes smoothly.

  2. Slice the onion and garlic. Peel the onion and garlic and slice them thinly.

  3. Chop the parsley. Optionally, finely chop the parsley.

  4. Prepare the meatball mixture. Place the ground beef in a bowl, add the egg, grated Parmesan and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. Form the meatballs. Mix the mixture thoroughly to form a cohesive mixture.

  6. Coat with breadcrumbs. Form the balls and coat them with breadcrumbs.

  7. Reshape if needed. Remove from the breadcrumbs and reshape if necessary.

  8. Fry the meatballs. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the meatballs until golden on all sides (about 4-5 minutes). Then remove them and set aside.

  9. Start the sauce. In the same pan (if you used a lot of oil, remove the excess) sauté the onion, garlic and (optionally the chopped basil) about 2-3 minutes over medium heat.

  10. Simmer the sauce. Add the crushed tomatoes, stir and cook about 2-3 minutes over low heat so the sauce thickens slightly.

  11. Add the meatballs. Place the fried meatballs into the sauce and cook another 5-8 minutes so the flavors meld and the meatballs cook through.

  12. Slice the bread. Slice the bread into thicker slices and optionally toast lightly.

  13. Serve. Place the meatballs on a slice of bread, spoon over the tomato sauce and serve immediately 🍽️✨
