Steps to cook
-
Prepare the ingredients. Prepare all the ingredients and take the butter out of the refrigerator well in advance so it softens 🍪✨
-
Mix the dough. Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Put the softened butter, flour, sugar and yolks into a bowl and work into a smooth dough, then refrigerate it for at least several hours (if it is not sufficiently chilled it will be more difficult to cut out). You can save the egg whites, for example to make meringue or use them in another recipe.
-
Roll out the dough. Roll the dough with a rolling pin on a floured work surface.
-
Cut out the dough and bake. Cut out the dough with a cutter (or with a glass or a knife) and transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the oven at 175 °C for about 5–10 minutes, until it starts to turn light golden. Check while baking, because the dough can burn quickly. After baking let the cookies cool at room temperature.
-
Spread jam on Linzer cookies. Spread jam on the cooled pieces and sandwich them together two by two.
-
Serve. Serve 🍽️✨
