Steps to cook

13 steps · 30 min cook
  1. Prepare the ingredients. This is what awaits you on the plate - prepare the ingredients in advance so everything goes smoothly 🥔🥕🍖

  2. Peel, cut, and boil the potatoes. Peel the potatoes, cut them into evenly sized pieces, place them in a pot of water, salt, bring to a boil, and cook for about 15 minutes until tender (check with a fork).

  3. Prepare the carrots. Peel the carrots, cut them in half, then lengthwise, and dice them into smaller pieces so they saute evenly.

  4. Chop the onion and garlic. Dice the onion and slice the garlic into thin pieces.

  5. Saute the vegetables. Heat a little oil in a pan and saute the onion with the carrots over medium heat for about 4 minutes until they begin to soften. Then add the garlic and saute for another 2-3 minutes, just until fragrant.

  6. Brown the ground meat. Add the ground meat, increase the heat, and saute for about 5 minutes, stirring often, until the meat changes color and starts to brown lightly.

  7. Simmer the meat mixture. Add the tomatoes, reduce the heat to low, and cook for 10-15 minutes so the flavors meld and the mixture thickens slightly.

  8. Prepare the mashed potatoes. Meanwhile, drain the cooked potatoes and, while still hot, mash them into a smooth puree.

  9. Heat the cream and butter. Bring the cream to a boil in a saucepan and cut the butter into small cubes.

  10. Finish the mashed potatoes. Finish the mash with the cream and butter.

  11. Place the meat mixture and mash in a baking dish. Put a layer of the meat mixture into a baking dish, then spread the mashed potatoes evenly over it.

  12. Sprinkle with cheese and bake. Sprinkle grated cheese on top, optionally add a little breadcrumbs for a crispier surface. Bake in an oven preheated to 180 C for about 20 minutes, until the top is golden brown.

  13. Serve. Divide the finished dish onto plates and serve 🍽️✨
