Steps to cook
-
Prepare the ingredients. This is what will be on your plate – crispy spinach pinwheels with cheese made from puff pastry; prepare the ingredients in advance so the work goes smoothly. Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Soak the spinach in cold water to loosen it and separate the leaves.
-
Prepare the spinach. Thoroughly squeeze out the spinach and briefly sauté it in a pan with a little olive oil for about 2–3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and let it cool slightly.
-
Prepare the pastry. Roll out the pastry on a work surface and spread it evenly with cream cheese, then scatter the spinach over it.
-
Roll up the pastry. Sprinkle with half of the cheese and roll the pastry tightly into a log.
-
Cut the pinwheels. Slice the log into individual pinwheels and arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Bake the pinwheels. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and bake in the oven at 200 °C for about 20 minutes, until golden.
-
Serve. Serve while still warm.
